Forbidden in February:A Year Without a Duke #2-Suzanne Mederios

Forbidden in February (A Year Without a Duke, Book 2)

Robert Milton’s future as the valet to the Duke of Beckworth is uncertain. His employer has died, leaving no heir in sight. When Robert’s mother also dies, he discovers that her companion has taken over her household.

Isabel Durham’s dream of gaining her independence is almost a reality, but her cousin is determined to see her married to a wealthy but much-older man. Robert’s arrival in London is the answer to her prayers. Neither can deny the very real attraction sizzling between them and if he ruins her, she’ll be free of the unwanted marriage.

But Robert’s very existence has proven to him that romantic entanglements are to be avoided at all costs. His desire for Isabel could cost him the one thing he’s vowed never to lose—his heart.

A YEAR WITHOUT A DUKE

The duke has died. Long live the duke! The only problem is no one knows who the new Duke of Beckworth is. All of England wonders, but no one more so than the people who depend upon Beckworth for their livelihood. In 1816, a year so cold that the word “summer” is a cruel joke, that livelihood is even more uncertain. However, they are all about to find out, with the duke away, there is nothing more warming than scandal and love…

Writing All the Wrongs: A Books by the Bay Mystery #7-Ellery Adams

Writing All Wrongs (A Books By the Bay Mystery, #7)

The New York Times bestselling author of Lethal Letters returns to the North Carolina Coast, where aspiring novelist and amateur sleuth Olivia Limoges discovers crime doesn’t take a vacation . . .

After Olivia and Chief Rawlings enjoy a brief honeymoon on Palmetto Island, they’re joined by the rest of the Bayside Book Writers for the Coastal Carolina Crime Festival. The festival’s highlight is Silas Black, celebrity screenwriter and television producer, who is currently working on a popular television show in North Carolina.

As the festival gets under way, a trickster seems to be bringing famous local ghost stories to life. But when the body of a woman close to Black is found on the beach, Olivia and her friends must deduce who on the island could resort to murder—before the sands of time run out for someone else…

This series just keeps getting better and better. This may be my favorite book in the series so far. Olivia and company have their work cut out for them with this murder. But, as always, the solve the crime with humor, friendship and lots of great writing.

At the Drop of a Hat:Hat Shop Mystery #3-Jenn McKinlay

At the Drop of a Hat (A Hat Shop Mystery, #3)

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Library Lover’s Mysteries and Death of a Mad Hatter comes a tale of hat shop owners who put a cap on crime.

MURDER CAN BE SO OLD HAT

Cousins Scarlett Parker and Vivian Tremont’s fashionable London hat shop, Mim’s Whims, is visited by a new customer bearing an old hat box. Ariana Jackson is getting married and wants to restore her mother’s bridal hat and veil for the occasion. The elegant item was made by Scarlett and Vivian’s grandmother over thirty years ago, so Viv is delighted to take the job.

When Scarlett goes to Ariana's office to consult about the restoration cost, she finds her outside, standing over her boss’s dead body. Though Ariana claims to know nothing about his demise, the investigation unveils a motive for murder. Now, with the bride-to-be in custody and the wedding on hold, Scarlett and Viv must find the real killer before Ariana's future is boxed up for good.

Honestly, this series is one of the most fun that I read. Scarlett and friends are hilarious and endearing. The mystery is fantastic as always and you cannot beat the local. I hope there will be many more to come.

Supernatural Serial Killers:What Makes Them Murder-Samantha Lyon, Dr Daphne Tan

Supernatural Serial Killers: What makes them murder?

Albert Fish held the genuine belief that the murders he committed were upon instruction from God. Peter Stumpp, who started practising the "wicked arts from twelve years of age", was convinced he was a werewolf. There are many more murderous individuals like them. Supernatural Serial Killers explores the association between serial killers and the supernatural. The crimes committed by these men and women usually involved sexual deviance, cannibalism and violence toward children. In sixteenth century Europe, the problem became so significant that 'Werewolf Witch Trials' were conducted - many have no idea that it was possible to be tried and convicted for the crime of being a Werewolf, but Lycanthropy was a serious and major social concern in the 1500s. In this book, approximately twenty supernatural serial killers are discussed, including their background, crimes, trials and defences.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Wow. This book was both interesting and terrifying at the same time. It was very well written and had a lot of great information. My hope is this book doesn't become a template for future murderers.

Black Magic Academy-Emily Martha Sorenson

Black Magic Academy

Mildred doesn't like black magic. But her mother was once valedictorian of Black Magic Academy, so her aunts insist she needs to follow in her footsteps and become one too.

Mildred doesn't want to be part of the popular crowd. Nor does she care about her "death-enemy." And she certainly has no interest in murderous spells. But if the teachers catch on that she's actually a good witch . . . well, they don't react well to that kind of ignominy.

What's the only good witch in a school of wicked witches to do?

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I want to be able to say that I really enjoyed this book, but I had a hard time getting into it. I tried several times and did finish but it took some effort. The premise is fantastic but it just didn't live up to my expectations.

At Blade's Edge:Goddess With a Blade #4-Lauren Dane

At Blade's Edge (Goddess With A Blade, #4)

The next installment in the Goddess With A Blade series will take Rowan to London where she has to run Roth to ground and uncover the truth about who is trying to destroy Hunter Corp and why. Oh and to meet her new in-laws…

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This is another series that I cannot believe that I haven't started before now. I loved, loved, loved this book. I think that I would be better suited to write a review had a read the others in the series, but still enjoyed everything about it. I can't wait to read the others and hopefully onto the 5th.
